so this is new. in the past couple weeks my fingers (and my foot for a few days) are really hurting. my knuckles seem a bit swollen and it has moved around from one finger to another, but it is really painful. arthritis?? what the heck?

I love this place. it is like having a mom to call at all hours of the night! yp

I have similar problems, yp.

I think it should be checked out by a doctor. I don't think it's a good sign if the joints are swelling.

I have severe inflammatory erosive osteoarthritis in my fingers. I have swelling and extreme pain at times. Cold weather kills my fingers. So sorry you are dealing with this. You should have a rheumatologist check them out to determine what the heck is going on.

Hi I was under the impression that because CD is an auto immune disease that arthritis especially of the hands is part of the D. When I have a flare up my fingers hurt like hell , they are swollen and hot.I find it difficult to bend them and my two index fingers are crooked at the ends. Not all my fingers are affected, just two on each hand. I take glucosamine and omega 3 tabs to help.

Definitely time for a rhuemy before the inflamation damages your joints.

oh good grief, I am just not ready to think about this. here i am, two months off gluten, feeling FABULOUS, and now I can't cut a banana in half. what a drag. I am not happy. oh, I guess I am happy, as I always am happy.

My hands hurt occasionally but when I have a flare (one where I'm waking up at all hours of the night with D) my FEET often swell on my to the point that I can't walk. And it moves from one foot to the other. Very weird. Very incapacitating. However, I do not have rhumatoid arthritis! This Crohn's is the darndest illness. So many OTHER problems it causes outside of the digestive tract!

Its part of the disease. Haven't you read about me on this subject? I've had CD arthritic attacks without any intestinal symptoms at all. Don't let it get you down, but do realize that diet(s) cannot cure this DD.

I am in a different boat, as my GI after an initial dx of cd, it never showed up again, so the docs don't really think I have it. I just hang around here cuz....you let me :)
anyway, nothing would surprise me; crohns could appear again or not; I have given up trying to figure it out.

Well, mine seemed to disappear after that major flare 3.5 years ago. But I'm still a crohnie. And your symptoms are ( Sorry I hate this usage too, heard it all TOO often!) CLASSIC CD arthritis. See a Rheumy

I as well have this problem and here latley they seem to bother me a lot more.My Rheumy had me redo a lot of test and my RA is very active.I know this will seem crazy to most but the only thing that I cam do to get some relief is to run the hottest water I can stand on them.I hope that you get some releif soon.

Girly, it'd probably be a good idea to go get those hands x-rayed. That sounds really painful.
