Hi all...  I'm getting a little nervous about this.  This is my third day with no real bm.  I've passed plenty of mucus but no stool.  I am passing gas at times, though, so does that mean I do not have an obstruction?  I've taken MOM two days in a row.  I guess I don't really know what to do right now.  I do have a fever -- generally below 100 (99.6-ish) for the past few weeks, but last night it got to 102.0.  I did start Cipro this morning.  I had been on Flagyl but cannot stand the taste and nausea it brought. 

Does anyone have any advice?  I guess the fear seems to alter my life so often...  I just want to get well...  Thanks.

We all know that feeling of "just wanting to get well." I'm afriad that I don't knwo why you're on the flagyl and the cipro so I'm flying a bit blind. Are you eating or on fluids? Are you having cramps and bloating? Are you fine in the morning and then it seems to get worse through out the day? When I've had partial blockages, I would feel sick to my stomach and full and incredibly uncomfortage untill what ever was there passed. I used to have absolutley clear fluids untill the feeling passed. Are you feeling any of the same symptoms? I'm don't know what MOM is, could you please explain? A high fever is not a good sign I don't think. If you haven't already you could try clear soups and juices for a while to see if the symptoms subside. And call your doctor as soon as you can, I find not knowing is the worst part.

Thanks... I was on Flagyl because I am having regular fevers. My doctor gave me the choice of Cipro or Flagyl, so I tried Flagyl and it made me so nauseous. I was on it for 10 days and went off because the fevers were down under control (mostly gone). They have been coming back again so I scared of abscess somewhere. I do have one fistula, but it's still draining.

MOM is Milk of Magnesia. I was hoping it would get things going.

I am not on a clear fluid diet but wondering if I should. I have hardly eaten today (half piece of toast), and am drinking lots of water/fluids. I guess I don't think I am having non-stop cramps or nausea. It hurts like heck when I try to go -- tenesmus situation -- and I typically have a constant ache in my rectal region (most of my Crohn's is there, all colon).

My gastro, please keep in mind that he's really opinionated, and never thinks he's wrong, suggests at least 48 hrs of clear fluids 1st. Clear soups, juice and boost which he includes in the "clear category." Often times it works pretty well for me. When I had my fistual they put me on both Cipro and Flagy, someone else I know was also put on the combo when she had her fistual. I hate Flagyl but if it helps get rid of the fistual it might be worth it. I was on both for much longer than 10 days. I don't know for sure but I would think that it would be harder to get a blockage in the large bowel (maybe the name says it all.) When I had barium enema's and was worried about it coming out I used to little bits of olive oil, vets give a mixture of oil, cotton batten and milk to dogs who have swolled bones to help it come out easier. I kind of took the theory and adapted it.

I really do hope you can find something that will give you a bit of relief for a while. Let us know how it's going.

flagyl is pure evil! never have more nauseated wen i was on that stuff.Anyway stick to fluids,you may haf a partial blockage and is your tummy making ne gurgling noises? or you could go to your gp and get them to haf a listen to your tummy and see if they think nething is up.if you start to get bloated or start to vomit go to er,wen i had a full blockage i started to get a really sore back,cldnt even stand up straight.Anyway goodluck

Well, I guess I am going to be ok. Something resolved... Anything is better than nothing at this point. And, I didn't throw up at the same time, so that is good. My fever is still above 100, but I am calling the doc tomorrow anyway. Thanks so much for the advice. I suppose that the anxiety of the "what ifs" is new for me. But, it seems to be there. Tomorrow is a new day.
