I'm sorry - I know I asked this a long time ago, but now I can't find the thread no matter what search parameters I enter....

If I have to go back to the doctors at Centers for Gastroenterology, I am going to SCREAM! I am sitting here crying my eyes out because... well, you've all been there. You know why dealing with doctors offices can put you on the verge of INSANITY. Well, I'm there.

But, EVERY STINKING DOCTOR within a thirty mile radius seems to work for them. I didn't know monopolies were allowed in the medical field.
I would love to find a GI that is NOT associated with the Centers for Gastro.
I'm even willing to drive all the way to Denver at this point if someone can give me a name and a thumbs up on a GI there...

Anyone.... please? I'm ready to move back to Missouri just to go back to my GOOD GI... and that's an insane reason to start scheming to move again. I like Fort Collins... BUT I HATE EVERYTHING that has to relate to my crohns. The GI's, the nurses, the ER....

HELP!

Ah, Sorry to hear it's going so bad for you. I live in Oregon and Love Denver, Fort Collins area, I would think the care would be better there. One thing I have learned is ask the nurses, usually they will be honest. Go ahead and let the tears out, I think it makes us feel better. I'm in bed too, sick. Wishing you a lead to a good doc and health! How's you knee after surgery??

I don't live anywhere near your state but I'm going to chip in with the suggestion about asking the nurses.  You'd have to find a non-crappy nurse, which I hope you have managed to find, but if you tell him/her what you are hoping to find for the type of doctor's personality and/or treatment methods, they'll be able to tell you which doctor to try or even that there aren't any if that's the case.  I found good specialists that way and the two nice doctors I already had, the nurses gush about how nice they are all the time.

Good luck, I hope you can find a decent doctor, please let us know how you are doing in your search.

I live in Broomfield, CO and am moving to the Loveland area soon. I see a gastroenterologist with Kaiser Permante (Dr. Drake) at the Rock Creek Center in Lafayette off HWY 287. I can send you her number if you would like it.

As far as nurses go, I haven't had any better luck with them than with the docs. They don't know anyone outside of their practice... like I said, it's kind of a monopoly around here! The nurses treat me like an incompetent two year old, and they NEVER get the messages correct when I use them as the go-between for my doctors. I've been through this nonsense before, but I've never had so many problems! I'm at my wit's end.

Hey.....I live way up in the mountains in Gunnison...where yes it is snowing as usual....anyway I go to the University of Colorado in Denver and see Dr. Levine.....he is the head of the GI dept.....let me know if I can help....hang in there!!

Thanks Lara - I'm sure I can find his number. Are you happy with him, though? I have NO problem driving in to Denver for a GI - if he's worth it...

(The snow came down here in Fort Collins for about 40 minutes, and now the never-ending blue skies and sunshine are back full swing! Hope it's beautiful in the mountains too!)

Patientspiders,

Have you tried any of the GI s in Loveland? My GI is Dr. Burgert and I really like him. He is one doctor who actually listens to you (according to me) and studies your chart before you come in (according to his nurses). I also love his nurses. Couldn't find a more compassionate bunch. I don't know if he belongs to any particular group, though. But I hope he's around for a long time. He goes the extra mile with his patients.
