Did anyone else rock & roll last night with our 5.2 quake in Illinois.

It would be interesting to find out out how far it was felt. I have to admit living on the The New Madrid fault gives me the
heebie geebies. I wonder if this is not the start of something bigger, they've been saying it for long enough.

Maybe it's time to live my dream & move to Florida. LOL.

I'm in Indianapolis Indiana and we felt it here!  It was pretty weird, only the second time in my life that I've felt it....

Felt it here in Champaign, IL. The rattling sound woke me up at 4:30 AM and it made my dog go crazy!

I also felt one of the aftershocks later in the morning. As soon as I looked at bottles of buffers (I work in a lab) and saw the waves inside, I was sure.

I'm so glad I live in Canada, LOL!

I thought the title was related to feeling like you get an "earth quake" in your tummy then you have to rush to the can...now that I've felt LOL!

I felt it here in Kalamazoo, Michigan! How wild is that! I thought I was just really dizzy as I nurse twins and it takes a lot out of me so I got up and drank some juice! Hee hee!

Too far south now. But I've felt one in California ( Well you can't say you've had the Cali experience unless you've experienced one Tremor!) but surprisingly I also felt two when I lived in Arkansas. Many feeders to the New Madrid faultline in the Ozarks. Yeah, Today showed the footage. Wild for you guys huh?

We felt it in Cedar Rapids IA  may have slept thru it as it was one of the nights I actually slept due to Crohns arthritis  Pretty interesting

My husband said he "heard" it in West Bloomfield, Michigan. He thought it was geese on the roof!

What kind of geese do you have in West Bloomfield that they sounded like an earthquake?!? Scary geese!

I would come to Florida in a heart beat, if I thought my husband could get a job that pays like the one he has here.

We love it here!  I guess it depends on the industry that you're in.  We live in the Tampa Bay area, very nice!!

fallcolors... actually you can hear an earthquake just as feel it.. somtimes a big "crack" and then the shake or a loud "rumble" as it happens..

as a native californian who grew up near the san andreas fault, can you really call a 5.2 an earthquake? i mean maybe to you guys in the east, but untill you see the street roll down the way or the street light poles moving a foot or more at the tops, im thinking it was maybe a small settling of the old river bottom you all live on..

BTW was it a roller or a shaker?

Randy, I was just waiting for one of you west coast guys to say something like that LOL.

It was a shaker, not a roller, due to the hard bedrock here.

They say, that The New Madrid fault, is gonna beat your San Andreas.....BUT I don't want to be around to find out. Apparently
in 1811 & 1812 the quakes were nearly 8 in magnitude. Good Huh!!!!

No, they were actually 9's according to most sources. Glad I was NOT around to see/feel those.
Yes, you can hear a quake. Sounds like thunder a bit, but in the ground. Oh well, its hard to explain but if you been in one you would know what I mean..

Actually most people who know that I come from dear little old England, think I couldn't have possibly felt an earthquake...
But I have, quite a big one too!. Can't imagine why it didn't sink the old place!!!!

Earthquake, smirthquake. I am a native southern Californian once you felt one there all the same. So many people think we have thing constantly, but we don't. I would rather live in Calif than Florida. In Florida you can count on at least one hurricane every single year. JMHO

Lived through quite a few in Seattle. But now in Central Oregon and no earthquakes here. Just snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok so i been out of CA for many years but we still have them up here in WA too. just little guys. its the dang volcanoes we worry about.

dunny, i do recall england had a good one just a while ago. strongest in a while if i remember right.

matthew and dunny, if i remember my geology correctly, i think that series of biggies way back even chnged the course of the mississippi river..

Anyone remember the Good Friday earthquake in Alaska in '64? That was a 9.2. I felt several earthquakes when I lived in Alaska, and we have so few roads up there that some towns were completely isolated when the roads on both sides crumbled to pieces. The biggest I felt was an 8.2, and that was when I woke up from a nap on my third-floor apartment and saw my clothes swinging wildly in my closet. Freaked me out but it was a good story.

I never knew there was a fault line in the midwest!

I live in Missouri... I felt it, too, while I was in bed...


It was funny... I thought maybe I was feeling like really dizzy or something because of my pain medicine...


Later, I find out there was an Earthquake...
