Wife in remission with Humira, but fistula may have developed.

She has been sypmtom free of Crohn's since the surgery, but she thinks she is noticing a vaginal fistula.  She's had them before, so she knows the symptoms of one.

She contacted her doctor this morning.

My questions concerns Crohn's/Humira/Fistula.  Because of an active fistula, does this mean her Crohn's is active or is Crohn's vs. Fistual independent of each other?

She doesn't have any symptom's of her Crohn's being active, just this possible fistula forming.  Is this just a tip of a bigger problem?

She had other fistula's close up with Flagyl and Cipro.  Not sure what these new doctors are going to do though.  I'm just concerned about her Crohn's acting up again.

She had really bad joint pain while on Remicade, so they switched her to Humira.  No problems since she's been on it, probably 10 months or so.  Well, until this fistula anyway.

I've been reading that they might increase Humira to help close this fistula (she's getting an MRI tomorrow to make sure it is one).

Anyone have experience with Humira closing fistulas?

Did they increase your dose of Humira for the fistula or put you on Humira to help close the fistula?

My wife had surgery to remove a blockage.  After the surgery, her crohn's was all cleaned, not a trace of it.  I guess you can say she is in surgical remission.

So, being on Remicade or Humira never put her in remission.  They are using Remicade and now Humira as a maintenance drug to prevent future flare ups, that's their hope anyway.

Does having a fistula mean her crohn's is active or does it just mean she has a fistula?  She has no other symptoms of active crohn's.  I know crohnies have an increased risk of getting a fistula, but does active crohn's cause fistulas or is a fistula something that can happen anytime?
