Hi all,

Is it common with Crohn's to have it in both the small bowel and the large colon? 

Also, if you have it in the Terminal Illeum, is that considered the small or large intestine?

I think the commonly accepted raio is that abuot 40% of patients have Crohns primarily or totally in the small bowel, about 20% in the colon and the rest in both. The terminal ileum is technically the bottom few inches of the small bowel, just before it empties into the colon. Proabbly the most common presentation is disease largely in he terminal ileum and the cecum, the first part of the colon.

I'm one of the lucky schmucks that has active disease in my small intestine and my colon.  My brother has Crohn's as well and he only has small intestine involvement.

I have as MikeB stated the most common type of Crohns. Back in the day they called it ileocolitis. I have/had it in the terminal ileum/cecum area. I said "had" because I have had 2 resections and had approx 17" of the area removed.

Thanks for your replies everyone!

I had the capsule endoscopy done yesterday...I am curious if anything will show up on it. The thought of having it in both bowels scares me, to be honest.

If I had it in both, do you think my pain would be worse? Like constant?

Maybe I just think and worry too much...

No, not necessarly. That's why they are doing the capsule endoscopy, to see where it is.
