UPPER ABDOMIN PAINS...NEED ADVICE

I have been having pains in my belly,and other misc. areas in my upper abdomin. It starts out in the middle and sometimes my back hurts. For the past few days I end up throwing up because it gets so bad, and the pain eventually goes away. I also have been really gassy and having alot of acid in my throat. I have had a endoscopy,ct scan,ultra sound recently and my doc. doesnt know yet whats going on. I have lost 7lbs in 5 days. But im overweight (185) so aparently thats not a big deal. ANyways anyone have the same problems at all? I have been taking my pentasa and prilosec everyday and im still getting sick! Its usually sometime after I eat. I can't take this much longer, its been about 7 days in a row that ive been throwing up, I just wanna be able to eat and have energy again! also I have been watching what I eat VERY carefully. please reply if u know what im going trough!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, I am having this kind of pain too, in my case my doctor does not know if it is the azathioprine or the disease, I am not a doctor, but this is what I have learned, in general pain near the button belly, like cramps could it be appedicitis, but I think this is not your case, upper right abdominal pain it is not very common, but it could eiher be stomach, pancreas, large intestine, upper left abdominal pain is most of times related with the large intestine, maybe you are throwing up because of the pain, this is normal when pain is very strong, Or maybe you have a stricture and food it is not passing thru it, maybe a bowel transit time exam could show if you do have any stricture, talk to your doctor, do not wait any longer, because if you are throwing this much you could be also throwing up the medications and then you will only get worse.
about the food question, it will be easier if you only take liquid food, such as modulen or ensure, because it will give your bowel a time to rest.

Hi there, sorry you are going through a rough patch, not fun to say the least.  I find in my inexperience, if the current drugs arent working, time for a change.  Although you may not like it Prednisone really helps calm the flares.  Entocort is milder and more expensive but that could work for you. I've had 2 resections and appendix out.  Sometimes you flare for no reason, nature of the beast. You are young and want to go, go, go. Try some yogurt, sometimes it helps or probiotics, in the meantime I a suggestion to see your GI is imminent, stay strong, let us know what happens!

I was having something similar to you a couple of years ago. I'm sorry to say the doctors never really figured out what the cause was. I was in pain a lot of the time, I couldn't eat, I was nauseas most of the time anyway. I was in and out of the hospital for a year, had every test multiple times, saw every expert. I had gastritis and duodinitis but they couldn't find out why. And for now reason, it eventually went away. I too was over weight from years of prednisone, and ended up losing about 70 pounds the hard way. The doctors never increased my prednisone dose, which I was in the process of tapering. To this day, I have no idea what cleared up the issue. Once in a while I will get the pain back and I loose my appetite, I know to stop eating for a few days, go to clear liquids and just give it time to heal. I have no clue, what causes it, so if your doctors do figure it out, please post it so that maybe I'll get some answers too.

hmm.. I knew I had finally found a good doctor when she read my previous doc the riot act for ignoring a sudden unexplained weight loss just because I was overweight. Those types of symptoms need to be monitored and if possible explained. I don't know what those symptoms add up to in your case but I do think you need to have a doctor who will keep looking for ways to help you.

I have not experienced this at all so excuse me if I am way off base, but surely they have checked you for gallbladder issues?

I have that same pain, so my doc ordered a CAT scan which showed a flare-up in my small intestine. He said pain in that area is consistent with inflammation of my crohn's. Unfortunately, the only way to relieve the pain is to bring down the inflammation.

So, on Friday I had an infusion of Remicade and today I start Imuran. Hopefully, that will do the trick.

Hi, what kind of CAT scan shows a flare up in the small intestine?  How can you see what's going on in the small intestine?
