the mention of granuloma (on another post) got me browsing internet and to reading an article on a lady diagnosed with Malakoplakia an uncommon chronic granulomatous inflammatory disease, not unlike crohns I suppose …anyways …they changed her medicinal regimen from mercaptopurine (was stopped) and “the subsequent management was based on the reliable intracellular penetration of quinolones antibiotics into the macrophages and the hypothetic capability of ascorbic acid of improving the macrophage function by increasing the cyclic guanosine monophosphate”. That’s a mouthful, but noteworthy. I guess I dont hear enough from gastro docs of (natural rememdy) improvement from vitamin C especially for this cycle: Cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) which deals with regulator of ion channel conductance. It gives me a relationship between granuloma and treatment, albeit not for crohns per se, but the electrolytical approach/correction would seem to me important enough to be mentioned by a doctor for crohns.
I suppose we could answer if vitamin C was beneficial to ourselves, but they should investigate this cgmp thoroughly from the standpoint of ion correction for us, and not just result in drugs for cgmp inhibition.
