I was on prednisone from November 2007 until March 2008 for my crohns.  I went to the eye dr. the other day and he diagnosed me with Glaucoma!  I don't even wear glasses.  I think its from being on the prednisone.  Has this happened to anyone else?  I don't know what else would have caused this at my age (49).

Hi....whenever I take Prednisone the pressure in my eyes goes up and my Opthamologist puts me on eye drops to lower the pressure. I'm sure alot of people taking Prednisone must have increased eye pressure, but no one tell's them to get their pressure checked. Scary! I am sitting here waiting to have a colonoscopy tomorrow as my Crohns has been horrible the past few monthes! I'm sure that my gastronologist will put me back on Prednisone to calm everything down. Then off to my opthamologist to keep an eye on my pressures! Are you taking drops to lower your eye pressure? At least you went to the Dr. and it was caught now! Take Care....

I had not been on Pred for a long time when I was DX with Glaucoma. Im not sure if it did anything to my eyes but if it did it only effected one eye. I use drops and my eye doc keeps a close watch on it. Did you ask your eye doc about Pred??

Glaucoma can have many causes including age, heredity etc.
When I was on pred-forte, prednisone eye drops-for eye inflamation I had to have a Glaucoma test every time I saw the eye doc-every 4 days to one week. No one told me to do that while on oral prednisone but if you read the patient information it mentions possible glaucoma and cataracts as side effects.

WOW I didn't know when your on prednisone that you should also go to the eye doctor to get your pressure checked. My doctor
never told me this. Yikes... I better call my eye doctor tomorrow.

Every eye drop they put me on has bad side effects, from headach to nausea to anxiety. Any suggestions?
