Hello,

I am usually in Lupus but I have a problem with my child.  

She is 10 years old and for over 2 weeks now she has been throwing up and constipated with some diareha.  Blood tests are negative for inflamation, and white blood count is normal.  No fever.

She is 4'10"  give or take a inch.  she was 67lbs and is now 60.5. 

I have a cousin with Crohn's.  I also have a neice with diabetes and celiac.  So the autoimmune diseases run in the family. 

What are the signs of Chron's should I be making them test her???  HELP  I am soo scared for my child.

It sounds a little bit like a bowel obstruction...has she been checked for that?
I can't see how it would hurt to have her tested for any disease like Crohn's or UC though...I'm really sorry you two are going through this, and I wish her better I really do.
Let us know how it turns out, but for god's sake don't wait.
I tried that recently and nearly died(had I waited a few more hours I would have). I wouldn't even question testing honestly...I'd be working as quickly as possible to figure out what is wrong.
As for the signs of Crohn's...mine were bloody and constant diarrhea, no appetite, major weight loss, fatigue, anemia, and so on. Hers sound a little bit different though so...

I will keep you posted. I am taking her in today again. I will keep taking her till they do what I want and I know what the heck is wrong.
Thanks and please keep the opinions coming so I can tell them what to check for. They did blood work and xray. said she has excess stool and that she should eat yougert. So she is but nothing was coming out, so I gave her xlax and a little came out with 3 treatments.
Cross your fingers that we figure it out!!

Does sound a little like an obstruction, but you didn't say if she was in pain.  Obstructions are extremely painful.  You will have labor type pain that comes in waves much like labor does.  You will feel the pain around the belly button area. 

I would ask for a referral to a Pediatric GI.  Explain that you have a strong family history of autoimmune diseases and would like a colonoscopy ran.  That would be the starting point.  At least with the prep she would get cleaned out really good.  I don't know if they have Miralax for children, you might want to try that to help clear her out some too.  But I think the first place to start is with a colonoscopy.  And normal bloodtests are not a sign that everything is okay.  I have been sicker than a dog and my blood tests come back normal.  Good luck and keep us posted.

I agree with Nanners, get her to a Pediatric GI!! My blood tests always come back normal too and I've been in a CD flare since May.
Had a scope last month and I have inflammation but my blood tests were not showing anything wrong.
I'm sorry she's not feeling well and hope you get some answers soon!!!

Dr today put her on adult dose of miralax. See dr again Wed and will do CAT scan if not better by then. She only has pain when the food gets in the bowel or near there and then she throws up.
Told him about everything in family. Gave me the "blood tests are normal speech"

Hi Hope the Miralax works for her does she usually tend to be constipation. Great you got her checked a stoll softener might help if her Dr. agrees but something should come out soon. If she has severe pains get her to emerg. lol gail

Wanted to Update you all. My daughter is doing good. Went to the dr today and he thinks she got a VERY bad gastrointestinal virus. Dr told me to keep an eye on her and if she starts to get that way again to call him. And he will do more testing.
