surgery today...can I smoke?

Hi I am finally having my surgery today and was wondering if I am allowed to smoke during the fasting period?

Surgery means anesthetic. Are you having an epidural or general anesthetic?

If general anesthetic, no, even I wouldn't smoke! Actually, Mayo Clinic prefers that you NOT smoke for 10 full days prior to undergoing general anesthetic. Anesthesia reduces your respiratory process until it wears off.

C2 is correct. They like your lungs as clear as possible before surgery. Good luck!

my surgeons wont even operate if you have smoked in the last 2 weeks. luckily i dont..
