recovery after a resection. how long??

My fiance just had a resection about 8 weeks ago. He had a total of 18 inches removed, mostly in the small intestine. He had recently started the humira before the surgery due to an obstruction. He takes the Humira every other week, however, after the surgery he is still having a lot of gas and pain. He really hasn't had a "normal" bowel yet and we were under the impression that he should be. All the CT scans have come back normal and we are just at a lose b/c he feels almost as bad as he did before the surgery. So, I guess my question is.... Is there anyone who had a resection where they took a long recovery or had similar symptoms?? is it normal?? Thanks

Hi I don't think 8 weeks is that long a time but I was lowering off pred. after my operation and stayed on low residue diet it will be 7 months for me and I don't have any pains at all from the intestines but have developed a lot of body pains and aches from hands to shoulders and just have it anywhere. I dont remember, I want to say they did remove the valve. I know there was an inch of large removed and the rest was in the small intestine. The surgeon just really lead him to believe that it would be an instant relief, and he doesn't really feel any better. So he is very frustrated. Thank you all for responding so quickly. Its nice to know that other people share the frustration of CD and we are not alone. It also helps to have imput from people who have had the surgery, just not hear number and percentages.
