Hello, My name is Alexandra, I am 19 and I have been diagnosed with Crohn's Diease since 2004. I wanted to ask about Remicade...I have been a Flagyl, Cipro, Prednsone, and currently on Imuran and Endocort. I am also trying a lot of natural medicine, but with natural medicine it just takes so long...and I want to be able to do so much without my Crohn's holding me back. I wanted to hear about Remicade, I know there are some severe symptoms. Has anyone had a problem, that made them want to stop Remicade? Thank you very much to those who reply:)

I have just had my second infusion of Remicade. I've had no serious reactions; my bp dipped a little low during my last infusion so the nurse just slowed down the IV drip. I've also had some shortness of breath but it passes quickly. I'm hoping this will be my Godsend! Give it a shot!

Sorry you have this horrible disease too. Dont be afraid to ask anything on this forum, you will get some great advice and lots of compassion from the posters on here. Good luck in finding the right medication to put you in remission too. Jo

Sorry you are here though! I did have to stop remicade because I built antibodies to it. However, I did not have any serious reactions or problems with it. Just wasn't the right med for me. Here's hoping you find the right med(s) soon! I will also note that the imuran worked very well with the Remicade and now with the Humira if that helps.

  Hi Alexandra,  Sorry that you have to deal with this stinker of a disease[ no pun intended]. I was diagnosed in jan of 00 and it has been the roller coaster ride of my life. I have been through almost every med known to crohn's and remicade was the only thing that provided me with mild relief. All crohnies are different though so what may work for some may be terrible for others. Remicade has many side affects so please beware.. I am also new here but have lived with cd for almost ten years. I wish you lots of luck and hope you remission very soon.

Thank you for the welcome:) BroomHilda, and Hello SouthPaw. I appreciate your reply. I am hoping remicade will put me in remission...without any side effects. I am having a hard time convincing my mom to let me try it...she is concerned with all the side effects. But for my health...I think it is a risk I should take:)

Welcome!

I have been on Remicade for about six months and have had no problems with it. My doc just recently doubled the dosage of my Remicade to help control my Crohn's because prednisone has been the only drug that has controlled my symptoms 100%. He doubled the dosage b/c I can no longer take prednisone due to my bones. So far so good! Good Luck and please keep us updated!

Thank you for the Welcome Emma! I am happy to hear Remicade has been doing well for you. I really hated going on Prednisone...never was too fun:( Thats good you stopped the Prednisone it's a pretty strong steroid. Hope all goes well with the double dosage:) Good luck:) as well:)
