CD mommies

How many of you were able to have your babies without being induced or a c-sec?

I am now 11 days past due with no signs that this kid is coming. I was hoping to blame CD for her delayed arrival (for some reason it would just be easier if I could just chalk it up to one of those CD things). I'd heard anecdotally that some meds (remicade) might interfere with dilation, but I'm only on Pentasa. It's so funny because I spent the first part of this preg worried about the pre-term birth stats for moms w/ active CD (mine's in remission, but I worried anyway) and here I am nearing 2 weeks past due.

I had my first daughter right on time with no inducement. Daughter #2 had to be taken C-Section becuz she was sunny side up and she was 2 weeks early. And Daughter #3 had to be induced and she was 3 weeks late. I don't blame any of this on my Crohns as I was in remission with each. Hope that helps. I am surprised now a days that they let you go so far out. My youngest is 26 and with my grandchildren they never let my daughters go more than a week late.

As a funny, as I said my 3rd child was literally 3 weeks late and did not want to come out either. Not only was I induced but they had to use the tong like things to pull her out. That kid did not want to come out either. Hope your little one decides to make an entrance soon, keep us posted on her arrival.

My baby was right on time, big and healthy even though I was flaring before and during my entire pregnancy, he came naturally and right on time as well...having CD doesn't always affect the outcome of arrival dates, the need for C-sections or other things along those lines, even healthy women can have issues with their pregnancies, deliveries, ect.

Thanks everyone. I really know this is just me, but it would be much easier to shrug it off if I could just blame CD. Oh well.

I'm bummed now (12 days past due) because I wanted this to be a natural childbirth and that option is gone. Thanks for the reminder on the c-sec Stef. I know there is a good risk of that and am going to grill by doc about it tomorrow. It is worth it whichever way this goes, I just want to see that healthy baby.

I had to have a c-section as my son just did not want to come out Plus he was a big boy (over 9lbs) and so doc didn't want to put me through the labor only to take me in for a c-section. 

 

If the baby stays in too long then it becomes a huge health risk for both the baby and mom.

Actually, if you go past your due date, not only does the baby get bigger, but the real danger is that the placenta can start to calcify. So, most if not all doctors will not let you pass 42 weeks, or 2 weeks passed your due date. I can't imagine going that much longer anyway.

Yup, after 42 weeks (Thursday) risks to baby and I go up. They worry the placenta won't function well and baby can become malnurished. Also if fluid is low they send you straight in to be induced/c-sec. Stillbirth, maternal death, and other scary things increase at that point too. We've been doing tests every couple of days and she is still passing, but after 42 the risks of waiting outweigh the risks of inducing. I was hoping she'd make an appearance before then, but it does not appear that she will (they would have induced at 41, but I wanted to give her a chance). Good news is, she'll be here by September no matter what.
