Pending insurance approval I will soon be starting on Humira. But which one? Does one hurt more than the other? Or cost more? I think you might have more control with a syringe, but a pen might be easier? Anyone done both?

I do the pen and love it. It's easy and I don't thik it hurts that bad! I leave it out for about
an 1/2 hr. before the injection. Good luck!

When I was on Humira, the first month starter package was only available in the pens. That way, you can see how you like the pens. I switched to the syringes after the first month and liked them better. I'm a nurse and don't have a problem giving injections. I think if I didn't have that experience, I would have stuck with the pens. I think they both hurt about
the same (some burning discomfort when injecting). The pens are really easy, just a lot of parts to throw away. Good luck! You'll be OK either way.

Started with pens, switched to syringe due to bad reaction site. Like the syringe better, the pen feels like a "slicing" to me & just hated it. However, still have the reaction at the site. Good Luck.

I use pens and I like them. I would say do what you want. sometimes it does not hurt at all and sometimes it does. Depends on where i give the shot and how long I leave out the pen... etc Karen

I use the pens and really like them. They're very convenient and simple to use. I haven't used the syringes and don't plan on it, since I do like the pens so much. I have also found though that it hurts a lot less if you let the medication warm up for a bit. I got my pens the other day and they were soooo cold out of the shipping box, and wow, did it burn! I think that was my worst injection, with it coming straight out of dry ice. Good luck to you!
