Same here, employer-sponsored plan.
You wouldn't think it's so much to ask for a little bit of money, like maybe burial expenses and a month's pay if you die, to go to someone's family, especially since we could easily die from a car accident and not crohn's. The insurance companies don't seem to see it that way though, most of them cry "RISK!! OH NO!!" for any medical conditions and freak out.
If you check with enough companies you should be able to find a few that will offer you a really low level of coverage, like maybe 20,000 or 50,000, for a very reasonable amount of money. It's not fantastic but it's waaaaay better than nothing
