Good luck Sniper, stay safe, I hope you guys don't lose any of your belongings either.
If you do end up moving, would recommend the midwest. The wisconsin/illinois/indiana/ohio area can have snowstorms but most aren't that bad if you aren't close to Lake Michigan (other lake states get tons more snow due to lake-effect snow) and there are tornadoes but those are maybe a couple times a year and the odds of it actually damaging your particular neighborhood are pretty low since they have a small area of destruction when compared to a hurricane! The best thing is that insurers will cover your losses from a tornado or ice storm, and not try to duck out of responsibility from paying like they do with flood damage and loss. Don't move next to a river or lake and you're solid.
Southwest would be good too, their disasters are dust storms and drought, and their annoyances are lots of snakes and scorpions and water is expensive. Nice thing is that other than dust, not many plants to irritate allergies and make health problems more miserable.
Hope you guys find some peace and quiet.
