Just noticed this morning that I have become quite the multi-tasker....
My office is about 50 feet away from the closest bathroom...and there is only one sitting stall in there...when nature calls I have to heed quickly or risk doing the duck walk past about 20 office support staff....or even worse having an accident.
Problem is I spend a lot of time in meetings or on the phone so even when I feel the urge I find myself holding off because I don't want to cut the meeting short or drag the phone into the bathroom....well......this morning I was on the phone long distance with an emergency call (one of my responsibilities is dealing with the first responders and Emergency folks who deal with disasters)...I tried to stick it out but the need to go won out and I had to...while taking an order....quickly duck walk to the bathroom....pen and paper in hand....I get into the john (thank God it is clear) so all in about 5 seconds, I put the phone between shoulder and ear, right hand grabs stall door and locks it while left hand gets the belt, undoes the pant button, clasp thing and zipper, then while still holding the pen and paper I am able to hold up pants, grab some TP and wipe the seat off just in case....and just in time to get seated....alll the while still talking to my client. He did ask what the noise was...I told him it was just background noise......
Now those are my multi-tasking skills...what are yours?
Side note; another funny thing about this episode is that while sitting there one of the office managers comes in and uses the urinal...it is one those kind with the electronic eye that auto-flushes when you walk away. Well he hears me on the phone, knows the urinal is a very loud flusher so even after he finishes his business he stands there until I hang up so as to not give away our location to the customer....now that is thinking on your feet.
