Since I have been dx with Crohn's I have asked many drs to check my gallbladder. None of them would check and said I was in denial of my Crohn's dx. I'm not in denial I just thought there was more going on then just Crohn's. I was right!

 

After 3 months I went to my reg, dr for some other things. She said she wanted to check my gallbladder, finally! She called me only a few hours after the ultrasound and said they gallbladder needs to come out.

 

I have never had a surgery so I'm a little scared, well a lot. Has anyone had this done before? (I don't know anyone that has) What can I expect? Does recovery time take longer since I have Crohn's?

Hi there is nothing to be afraid of. My doctors did it just backwards they took out my gallbladder and then said I had crohn's. eyes I did have two stones, but no pain or anything. Its a very easy surgery, My 15 year old daughter had it and was out of school for 5 days, and you only stay overnight,or it can be same day. turn so don't worry... But you will still most likely still have crohn's sorry !!! cry

I had it done several years ago, so the exact recovery time is a bit sketchy. Mine was doen laporoscopically. There were 4 tiny incisions. It was painful, but as I recall, I was up and around within 3-4 days. It still hurt, but I could function. It really is not a huge deal, in comparison with a resection anyway! I wouldn't worry too much about it. I'd worry more about your gastro drs!

I had mine out last March. Mine was removed lapriscopically and the recovery was pretty quick (about 2 weeks as I recall.) I was pretty sore for the first couple of days after it was removed. Nothing too bad though (pain pills.) It only left a few small scars on my abdomen. Pretty common surgery. Just plan on being in la-la land after surgery and have someone available to help you out.

Mine surgery was a breeze - I had an attack. The surgery was laproscopic. They thought they might have to cut me open because of scar tissue from CD surgeries, but they didn't. I was told I could stay out of work 4-6 weeks, but I only took two.

I had mine out 4 years ago. Severe pains that lead to nausea and skyrocketing blood pressure. I really watched what I ate so I did not have an attack before the surgery - that makes surgery even easier. I was very nervous because they thought they would have to open me up completely due to the amount of scar tissue abdomenally from my CD surgeries.
I was in and out in a few hours. The easiest procedure I ever had. They did it lap with no problems and I have never regretted it.
Go very low fat (no dairy, no lunch meat & no sauces were the hard part for me) to keep from having an attack before you go in. I swear by that as what helped make the process easier

Had mine out at the same time as my double resection. They even threw in the appendectomy while they were at it. One-stop shopping.

Boy, was I ever a mess.

I had mine out about 6-7 years ago, laparoscopically.  I previously had a bowel resection and this was a piece of cake.  I went in early in the a.m. and was sent home @2:00.  I recall not being able to lift anything heavy, no vacuuming : ), etc. for a short while, but it was not bad at all.  Good luck!
