I have been having to wear alot of adult diapers recently (been buying them from walmart where I could call ahead and have them bagged up and ready to go when I get there, so no one else could see).  Well the VA sent me some (3 boxes of 60) which was nice cause I do not have to pay for them.  Unfortunately, they were clearly labelled and stacked next to my front door of my apt.  There were five guys standing there taking cell phone pictures of this (college campus).  I know 2 of them in passing, former students. 

Just so embarrassed.

I find it kind of pathetic that they have nothing better to do than taking pictures of something like that with their cell phones. It really disgusts me how people in society have so little understanding of a person's need to use that. I'm really sorry that happened...I hate that it has to be embarrassing in the first place. I really wish people would understand more..

If I were you I would try to play it off as not mine. Like next time you see those guys be like "hey I'm expecting another shipment of my grandmother's diapers. I would hate for them to get rained on. Could you call me if you see them outside?"

But in all honesty, I feel your pain so much and send you a huge hug. It is nothing close to as bad but I gave way too much tmi out loud in class today. We were talking about OUI and the breathalizer and how the police have to restart the 15 minute wait period if someone burps. I said out loud "I could never go 15 minutes without burping... they would think I was doing a forced refusal..." And some people laughed, some people looked shocked, my professor looked embarassed... I really didn't think it was that big of a deal. I burp a lot. Whatever.

I agree with LMills - some people really do need to get a life of their own instead of focussing on other peoples'.

early times in my life (and this might only work because i have no butt whatsoever) I would use bigger toddles diapers as a liner. They catch most drop and it doesnt smash against your arse and make a mess. Its not foolproof but it really catches takes alot so you dont have to do the full diaper thing. Plus it just looks like your getting baby diapers.

Wow, I can't believe they would do that! College kids can be so silly. I'm so sorry. You shouldn't be ashamed though! Just be who you are and be strong.

I agree with LMills and Ivy - they should get a life! Sorry you felt embarassed, although they should be the ones embarassed by their behaviour.

The humiliation we feel from this disease (and the snickers on the faces of those that would put such humiliation on us), would disappear into hugs of comfort, support and understanding if they had to live our lives but for a single day.

You know the old saying what goes around comes around and it always does and always will navy. I wouldn't worry about those freaks. Some day they will be old and may need to ware those as well.

Hi My take on this just don't let others bother your determination to look after yourself. We shouldn't let others cheapen our need for something if we need it. Maybe you could apply for a crohn's commercial where in the real world people use what they need. Time heals all abuse or maybe some.lol gail

If those guys ever say anything to you about it, tell them you purchased the diapers for them to wear on their heads cuz they have sh!t for brains.

Would it be worth your while complaining to the VA, Navy, and asking them to wrap the package next time, so that nobody can see what's in it?

It doesn't matter how old or ill a person is - *nobody* would want to advertise that they are wearing those things - and I think the people who sent the package should have had a bit more sensitivity.

I too, feel your pain Navy.  with this disease i have grown alot.  I myself would have told them, that i have a disease, Called Chrohns,  that i hope to God they do not get.  be tough Navy.  Just let it go, kids will be kids.  Believe me i was one of them butt heads.  But age has changed me.

I would complain to the VA. Medical conditions are private and confidential. It wouldn't matter if you were getting band-aids in the mail, medical supplies should be in "plain brown wrappers." Maybe your complaints will save someone else from the same embarrasment.

Oh Navy, I feel so sorry for you.... I would also act like they were not mine. heck I still get embarrassed buying feminine products.... lol ((((hugs)))) I do think the box should have been blank and not so visible. I could not imagine them sending any other medical supply in a way that is was not confidential. When I get meds thru the mail the bag is very discrete since it is confidential. I aslo know how the military can be and they can care less sometimes with medical stuff. I once had a Navy Doc tell me I was pregnant in front of a room full of people. How did he know if I wanted strangers to know? Karen

dang i gotta type this again! i lost my log-in ...

anyhoo navy i have similar thing happen often, hope you get a laugh.. i get big boxes from the VA too. they like to send everything at once. the largest box they have is a clearly marked "urinary incontinance bags and tubes, large 100 each" in bright apple green 3 inch letters! now if you recall i was a mail man after i got out. and guess where my mail comes from? yep my old work place! boy do i get the ribbing when the "box" gets delivered. all in good fun though...

maybe you could pack some of the boxes with foam peanuts and send them to other people in your building. and then say gee did those pranksters get you too?

OH NO!!! (((((((((((((( Navy ))))))))))))) SO sorry. I don't think I would even have a clue . . . except that I went to the store to buy some adult diapers for my dad and I found myself feeling SO defensive about it. I can't imagine having to endure a bunch of college peers as in your situation. You are "true grit". Randy had the very BEST response!!! Haaaaa Haaaaaaaaaaa!!! Blessings!
