well looks like Remicade train is running out... Wifie left and with her so did the great insurance. gotta go back to the crappy insurance (though I'd greatfull to be able to have it).
anyways I won't be able to afford the remicade treatments anymore so my question is this.....what do you guys find that works for moderate Crohn's? the Remicade was doing a good job of keeping it in check and i don't want to go back to the way things were before i was on it. I was hoping there had been some breakthroughs sine i started the remicade back in 2004.

I agree with Adam, it might be time to start really evaluating your diet. If you can and haven't already, I really recommend getting tested for food allergies. My insurance doesn't cover this, but I went Gluten/wheat-free at the advice of a doc and it has been almost as effective as Remicade for me. It sucks, because Remicade was easy and I didn't have to modify my diet or lifestyle, but really - going gluten-free isn't nearly as bad as I thought - and well worth it for me.

have you talked to the people who make the Remicade, others on here have discussed how they sometimes give it at a lower price for those people who need it and do not have the insurance or funds to have it.

Sorry about the wife and the Insurance.... I went on Humira because since it is a RX I get from a Pharmacy it was much cheaper for me than Remicade. (I pay $40 per month 1 copay for Humira and would have paid 10% of Remicade infusions which could be a lot more...) Check with your insurance and see if Humira is covered and ask your Doctor. I bet he/she might even get samples if you ask for them.... good luck!!! Karen

Oh, John. That's just awful. I am so, so sorry. It seems wicked and wrong that you should be put in this position, just for lack of high-level insurance.

What other medications have you tried? Have you used Imuran, Methotrexate, things like that?

I am really sorry this has happened to you.

John, the court can order your former wife to keep you on her insurance as part of spousal support. It is common in divorce decrees to require a leaving spouse to insure the former spouse and kids. Your health is important enough that this might be pursuing. If she agrees it wouldn't cost you much more money than a regular non-contested divorce. You really should get legal advice though.

She dropped out of life entirely, including her job. She just stop showing up one day. I looked into the whole COBRA thing and MAN is it expensive!

Ivy, I went from having a resection years ago directly to the Remicade when I started having problems again. so I haven't really tried other meds in the place of Remicade.

JohnD there are prescription assistance programs from the makers of Remicade and some other programs for any type of prescription that you should look into. Good luck!
