Pain - Maybe mistaken for Kidney Stones???

Just curious if anyone out there has ever had any symptoms that appear to be similar to kidney stones (just before the unberable pain) and it ends up being something else???

I woke up with pain in my left side back area last Wednesday, went to the doc who told me probably kidney stones....went to the hospital on Friday night - same thing...now still sore and been told i have an infection - more meds - but something seems just to weird to me???

Still waiting to get an ultrasound, hoping that may tell me something more.

Please let me know - getting worried :(

Don't know if this will help, but I was having significant pain in my chest, my GI diagnosed it as acid reflux. One night the pain was so bad that I thought I was having a heart attack and went to the ER, then the back pain started. I couldn't even lay flat on the gourney.

Finally, a doctor took a look 'outside the box' and found out that my gallbladder was riddled with stones and needed to be taken out immediately.

So the only symptoms I had before they decide to look further was chest pain for over a year. The ultrasound should give you more information and hopefully they can fix you up! Well, as best as we can be fixed....

Thanks!! I am crossing my fingers, he mentioned briefly gallstones but the main pain is on my left side...see i was on prednisone for 13 years twice tried to go off and ended up in hospital...now down to one a day, getting remicade and taking methotrextate...i am now thinking maybe it is my lowering my prednisone - who really knows!!!

Just so frustrating!!!!!

I was diagnosed in May 08 with Crohns.  For two weeks before that I had horrible pain in my back around my Kidney area.  I went to the doctor and was told that I had a Kidney infection.  After being on antibiotics for 2 weeks, one night I started having abdominal pain and went to the er.  I had a ct scan - was told I had diverticulitus and was sent home.  The next day the hospital called me back and had me come back in.  That is when they admitted me and after a colonoscopy I was diagnosed with Crohns.  I still do not have it under control.  I have been in the hospital twice since then and whenever I start feeling bad - the pain is usually in my back around my kidneys before it moves to my lower abs.

I went to the hospital two weeks ago with horrible pain on my left side. Whenever I have a flare up it is on my right side. The er doc told me that usually left sided pain means your colon. They did a CT scan and luckily my colon was fine but I had a cyst.
