ct showed spot on lung?!?!?!

had ct scan for crohn's and ibs and gi dr called after 6pm and said there was a spot on my lungs that he was worried about. setting me up with a lung dr. the only thing i've ever heard about this it was cancer. SOMEONE PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU KNOW OF ANYTHING ELSE IT COULD BE   CANT WORRY TO MUCH MY CROHN'S AND IBS WILL MAKE ME REALLY SICK!!!

First of all, wowkriste, take a deep breath and remember that not even the doctors know what it is yet.

I'm not sure about cts, but I'm pretty sure that with x-rays a spot on the lungs can indicate an infection or scar tissue. I know it's hard, but please try not to jump to scary conclusions yet.

Just keep breathing and try not to panic. When's your appointment with the lung doctor?

hey, dont get all worked up till you really find out. i have had spots on mine for a year or more now. still dont know what they are. come and go every few months. thoufht they may be causing my fevers, but no proof. had all the tests bronchoscopy, ct's etcc.. ct every month for a while now every 6. nothing wrong so far.

I dont know yet my GI is setting it up for me. Think I'll find out next week.

One thing I've realized about being sick with CD is that inflammation occurs in other parts of the body too. I have chronic inflammation in my nose and have even had slight inflammation in my heart!

So perhaps it is inflammation or scar tissue in your lung. Try not to worry.

My mom had a spot on her lung which showed up in pre-op testing (before a hysterectomy). After repeat imaging, months apart . . . they never did figure out what it was. That was 25 years ago and we celebrated her 80th birthday today. She's never had any lung issues beyond a normal cold. The orthodontist found a spot on my son's brain when they did xrays of his teeth. We went for special testing and they discovered that it was a kinked blood vessel. No issue at all. Lots of things (besides cancer) can cause these shadows on imaging. Most lumps in breast tissue aren't even cancer. Its just that we always think of cancer first because it is so scary. I hope you will let us know what you find out. Blessings!

Hi I have a scar on my lung from when I had pnemonia and pleursy years ago. Try not to panic till you get more info on things. lol gail

I have to agree with everyone else here it could be alot of different things (I have inflammation on my lungs and heart caused by CD).

Do you smoke?Is so, it could just be from the smoking, or even been around second hand smoke all the time an do it. It could be a wee infection of the lung or anything. Please try to stay relaxed, it could be nothing and cause you alot of stress through worry. Don't do that to yourself. Have a wee tea and chill. Your in good hands and you will know soon enough.

This is a common thing. Not all CTs go high enough to show the lungs when they are looking at CD. Sometimes when they do they see something like this that wasn't noticed before. Over a year ago the same thing happened to me. They made me follow up, but it never changed and they realized it was scar tissue from pneumonia I had as a kid. We just never knew it was there. It is good to follow up, but don't worry too much yet and don't start googling it. That stressed me out needlessly. Also, search back on HW there are other posts on this topic.

I'm trying not to worry. I have had my brain swell up over 2 years ago from crying so much and I thought I was going to die. I know that cd can cause swelling all over your body. I hope I find out something this week. I'm not stressing because spending ALL my time in the bathroom aint going to help anything.

(((Wowkriste))) it is scary to wonder what is wrong but know that we are here for you... having a chronic illness does tend to make us wonder what's next at a time like this. I know it's nearly impossible for me not to get sick when I make myself worry so much... do the best you can to think positively and it will be fine. Take care of yourself.

Thanks teacherbetsy! Yea i wanted to slap the dr. in the mouth. going for colonoscopy on 12th to check on cd and ibs. I have both and i cant find anywhere that tells you about when you have both. I have been in the bathroom all weekend. I'm calling the pulmenary dr tomorrow and tell them that they dont know what worring does to a gi patient with crohn's and ibs. It makes me sick and stay in the bathroom all day, thank you!!

Hi I have had DX of IBS and CD lots of us here have, I find the low roughage diet works for both my problems and I don't spend all day in the bathroom.Best Wishes on your scope and time will go by I know I found it hard waiting for my CT results. Hope you have good results talking to your Dr. they should know it is difficult for people to wait is right. lol gail
