does any one get them i have one on my back very painful had surgery on tuseday the dressing and packing has to be changed twice a day hurts like heck just wanding if any one else gets them

Hi I have had a large abdominal one that required surgery and you are right or at least the surgery to get rid of it was worse then a resection.How big a area was infected? It takes some time for them to heal. Hope you feel better soon.Are you home? lol gail

Ouch! I have had abcesses and they hurt! I developed 2 abdominal abcesses after resection surgery and had to wear a drain for 4 months, and then recently had a peri-anal abcess that was very very painful!

I felt that the pain from these was worse then any pain I had for my Crohn's and recovery was harder then it was for any other surgery. I am not sure why they are so painful but it was awful!

I had several peri-anal abcesses, but since I started on Remicade about 3 years ago they have not returned. Don't know if you have tried this treatment. Maybe worth mentioning to your doc. Good luck

Hey Keano,

I am on Remicade for almost a year now and its helped with the abcess but not healed it completely. I had an ileostomy for 18 months as well in hopes of clearing it up and had reversal surgery a couple of weeks ago and the doc said it looks good, but still not healed.
