I can't have a Pug right now, but man, I do want one... I'll get one when I'm out of college...
Anyway, a gluten-free diet is just as it sounds... Gluten-free. A lot of products contain gluten... Anything that contains wheat contains gluten (so that means a lot of bread, cereal, crackers, cookies, etc., and even stuff like soups and puddings)... Modified food starches usually contain gluten.
Anyway, gluten-free diets are usually done by those who have celiac disease. Celiacs are extremely allergic to gluten, and it causes them a lot of intestinal problems. It's been scientifically proven that a gluten-free diet helps those with celiac disease.
Now, as for other diseases, there isn't that much research, but people with Crohn's and UC that have gone on a gluten-free diet have noticed a reduction in symptoms and overall better health. There's a few people on this board that can tell you a lot more about a gluten-free diet. Yogaprof is one of them. Very helpful person. :D...
