I had surgery for my Crohn's on November 10th.  They took out almost 18 inches of my small intestine.  Since then, the pain is gone, but i feel like I am in the bathroom more than I was before.  Does it ever get any better?????

Yes it is very common to have diarrhea for a bit after a resection. It just takes some time for your body to adjust to the changes. Most people will have the d slow down, but some folks continue to have more d. You might want to ask your doc about Questran if the d continues. Good luck!!!

Unfortunately for me the diarrhea never got any better. Questran helped for many years, though.

It takes a little while but it should get better! After my first resection I had a wonderful seven year remission. If it doesn't get better soon your GI should be able to give you something to help. Imodium also helps me...

It does and doesn't get better. In another month or so, you could start using VERY small amounts of Imodium (at least that's what my surgeon said at about month 3 after my surgery). I'm missing 18 inches too. It'll level out to an extent but the D is tons better then either gassy or constipated. Both of which hurt TONS more then the constant need to go. You can talk to your doctor about something more if imodium doesn't help.

After i had my surgery i had d for about 2 weeks and since then i have it about once every 6-8 weeks and it lasts about a day, if that. My GI says i'm one of the lucky ones. But before my surgery i never had a problem with the D, it came and went every couple of months or so and never really lasted that long.
