Has anyone here dealt with the stomach flu this year?

I caught it, pretty badly.  Threw-up 5 times and had D 12 times in 7 hours. (I hardly EVER puke!) I was down to bile, literally.  Finally, just as I was going to pack up and head to the ER for fluids, I was able to keep the phenergan down and some water and sprite.  I got some rest and kept fluids and soft foods for the rest of the weekend.  I'm also taking Levsin (anti-spasmatic) that is helping out with the narcotic combination.  My doc is getting more phenergan this morning as I went through several since I was able to keep it down.  I'm still nauseated and have lost most of my appetite.  I switched to high-protein boost and can stomach potatoes and cheese and crackers, but still having lots of gut pain since this bug.

Anyone have it and can tell me how long before they sort of went back to normal?  It doesn't help that this hit JUST as I went off steroids, so it's hard to tell what is Crohn's and what is this bug.  The nausea is overwhelming though... I'm taking 1/2 a phenergan every 4-6 hours, so 12.5mg.  THat keeps it at bay and the Levsin and Norco help the gut to stay calm. 

Just looking for a light at the end of this tunnel.

Oh my goodness, it went through my household about a month ago.  It was AWFUL!  I had D more than I have ever had with Crohn's!  I threw up a few times as well.  And the stomach pains were unbelievable!  I took a few Norco to help with the stomach pain.  The stomach pains hurt so bad I was moaning like a baby! 

Mine lasted for probably 4-5 days.  Once the D was gone, I had awful, AWFUL gas that lasted for about another 4-5 days.

My son ended up getting it twice--I didn't think that was possible, but the second go around, I called his pediatrician and they said you can get the same thing twice. 

I sure hope you feel better soon because it is nasty bug going around and having that on top of Crohn's REALLY bites!

Stomach bugs are usually worse for us Crohnies. Try to keep doing what your doing and drinking plenty of fluids. Sending healing thoughts your way. I get a flu shot every year, because I know I will get 10 times more sick than the average person because of my Crohns.

indigo - Yup, having gas pains since yesterday and they HURT. I'm sure my inflammed tissues are super tender, so this is NOT helping. Thank God for Norco and Levsin! I'm not taking much, maybe a total of 5-6 a day now because of the flu, but that's only up from 4/day. The Levsin is really helping righ tnow.

Nanners - Thanks a million. I had many encourage me to the ER< but I knew I'd pick something ELSE up there, so I try and do everything I know how and ride it out at home until I know it's going to get out of control....

I've been eating a little here and there...able to keep it in, even though I don't feel well...

I had the stomach flu a few weeks ago and it was horrible. I agree with the other posts that the stomach flu hits us crohnnies a lot harder than the average person. I puked and pooped all at once! The worst of it was over within 24 hours, but the excessive d lasted a few days. I lived on soup, popsicles and gatorade. Lots of sleep.

Hang in there - it does go away....

i haven't had it but i have seen and treated a lot of it- it is definitely making its rounds

Making the rounds here in eastern NC too. Just tonight the local news warned of a restaurant here that had a worker with it ( who continued to work with it) and needless to say it ran rampant from there. I am so glad I limited any fast food the last couple of weeks! Haven't had it yet, at least not that I could tell anyway.

I had the stomach flu 20 days ago, it lasted 2 days I wasn't throwing up but the nausea was awful, terrible D, headache, low fever, loss of apetite, and sleeping all the time.
