HOMIE is an official hernia!

  my newest friend Homie, is an official hernia, as certified by official guvment' machinery. i went for my ultrasound this morning, it was still dark!  we watched as it went in , went out, went in, went out.  but i was a bit right too. as its coming from down further than where its coming out.. it is kinda squirting out and then up to the surface about an inch away..  dont see the surgeon till the 22nd of jan. unless they have a cancelation.  or unless my GI dr calls them about getting in sooner.

Hi Randy you mean to tell us that they are actually thinking of getting rid of homie? At least you will have a fond pic if only in your mind to remember him by . Hope your surgeon is gentle. lol gail

Ahhh! To FINALLY know Homie's true identity. At least now you know what he is. And now, shucks, just as the two of your were developing a really close relationship they want to excise him outta yer life! Sheesh! Ah well, some friendships are meant to be short-lived. Hi Randy since it's such a funky little hernia getting it taken care of is probably a good thing. Toidy now haven't heard that word in awhile. Make sure you keep in touch on this we certainly have made plans to help you threw this new adventure. How are you feeling other then the hernia? Hope the holidays were good to you. lol gail

gail, doing ok but fighting a killer cold...

nanners, all our snow is gone here at sea level. but its dumping like a foot a day still in the mountains.. all the passes are closed till tomorrow for avalanch work.. they shoot cannons up into the valleys and let the snow slide down onto the interstate and then clean it up. its falling so fast they cant keep up at the moment.

oh broomy, i promise if there gonna be a surgical fix, there gonna be surgery pictures! ill put it in the comments section on the pre-op form. you know i dont know if i can even use mesh anymore. i had some in there years ago, and it seemed to work keeping things from sticking etc.. but i dont know if they could get any in anymore. unless its just a small 2" x2" piece. the last one was like 8x8.

 oh and the hernia designation was by a piece of equipment and an operators view, prize notification will have to wait for official surgeon notes on op reports just to be sure there was no mistake... 

Not to ask a stupid question,but. If you get a hernia after surgery, do they wait until you are healed before they go back in and fix it or do they just do right than and there. Also, if you have Lapro is there still a chance of getting a Hernia?

I got my hernia about 4 months after my laproscopic surgery so, yes, you can still get one. If you get a hernia from the surgery, they could fix it right away but you probably wouldn't know you got a hernia right away. Everything is swollen and tender after the surgery so unless it was huge, you probably wouldn't even notice. If your hernia traps your intestines, they'd do surgery right away on an emergency basis. Otherwise, you can wait a while. I wasn't allowed to lift more than 5 lbs before my repair surgery. I had the surgery about 2 months after diagnosis so it was about 6 months after my IC valve removal.

I don't take Crohn's med because they aren't sure if I have it, so far they call it "ileitis". I had a hernia repair just over 2 years ago and had mesh put in. Due in part to hospital negligence, I ended up with complications. I had a large seroma ( a buildup of fluid) in the repair site that had to be drained 3 times and took over 6 months to go away. I still have mild pain in the mesh area but I think it has more to do with endometriosis than with the mesh material. I don't have a problem with allergies other than seasonal sinus type stuff. I have developed another hernia and will eventually have to have it repaired. I am not in a hurry even though this one causes me pain. I'm curious as to whether there are problems with the previous repair, at least I'll know more when they repair the second one.

Was your previous hernia surgery painful?

I saw the doc, it's a small one and it's not trapping my intestines. He said since it's rather small I can wait a bit for the surgery. We talked about what to watch out for and I go to the doctor's enough (for all sorts of fun stuff) for him to monitor it. I first noticed it in September and I'm thinking about having surgery in April. I really like this opinion so I'm not getting a second one, LOL.

My previous hernia repair surgery was so terrible I will need some more time to psych myself up for another one. I'm not trying to scare anyone that needs this surgery, my circumstances are probably different that yours so you shouldn't have the same problem.

Glad to hear you found out what Homie is, and he can be evicted. Hope your cold is better, I started getting one on Christmas eve, but it was gone by last Sunday. Happy New Year to all.

Hey man, dont mess with that cold. I catch 40 kinds of heck getting rid of one and they usually turn into something that just hangs around forever. Anyway, you have to be healthy so you can get rid of Mr. bubble....
