Prednisone disaster.

All of December was a flare up mess for me. My doctor did a high dose prednisone taper, which fixed the Crohns, but caused other hellish problems. I've been having horrible stomach pains after eat, my stomach is bloated and hard- to the point where people notice it, and I really can't do anything past dinner time but lay in bed. This has been going on for several weeks, but I figured it would just go away. I did finish the prednisone taper. I called my doctor today after having a bowel movement with a good amount of blood in it. After taking one look at me, I got, my god you look awfully pale, my BP was low, and walked in doubled over. They scheduled me for an emergency endoscope tommorow morning. They think it might be an ulcer in my stomach from the prednisone. They also took a ton of blood. I feel kind of defeated, and irritated that if its not one thing with my body its another. Has anybody ever had this problem from pred? I could really use some support. Thanks!

Never had those problems on Pred, but I've had my fair share (high blood pressure, cataracts, crippingly body pain from taper, etc.)

GL with your endoscopy. I hope it goes well. I'm flaring pretty miserably as well. I'm sorry you are in so much pain. I am usually anemic, so my Crohn's only magnifies that issue. It's so tough.

You may want to have a CT or MRI along with the scope!

Thank you for all of your support! It really makes a difference. I'd never had an endoscope before, but medical procedures don't really get to me anymore.... with Crohns, unfortunaltly we all get used to being poked and proded. They didn't find anything. My stomach, esophagus, a duodenum were all normal. My doctor apparently did a rectal exam... thank god I don't remember that haha. But he did find blood. I've had 2 bloody stools today. He thinks I'm bleeding from the site where my resection was done a year ago, and thats where my crohns came back. Sooooooo.... altho I told him NO COLONOSCOPY. I lost. I'm going in for a colonoscopy on Monday at 730 am. I asked him what they do to stop the bleeding, and he really didn't give me an answer. Does anybody know? So now I sit a home, paranoid that my bleeding will get worse and i'll end up in the hospital. I wish there was something for this pain though, its terrible!
