      In my lifetime, cures for this disease should be considered. Since having crohn's back in 81'. I ve had no surgeries, and been on prednisone, but I like to see a cure over the horizon. I have a few ideas, and I hope medical science is listening;

                   1) Intestinal derma brasion. Deep tissue resurfacing that takes place from ascending, transcending and

            descending colon. How with a "radial endoscope co2 laser".

                  

                    2) Vitamin c colonic. Flush out the entire colon with high potency vitamin c. This process should promote a

            healthy intestinal layer rejuvenation.

              

                    3) Intestinal transplant. Using your cells for this process, stem cells can grow your own large intestine.

            Rejection can be non existant, or grow healthy tissue to be planted in the diseased areas of the colon.

                      ...these are some of the ideas I've got going right now...please feel free to add to them, regards, Ben

1 and 3 are interesting, but I have heard that flushing out your colon is not beneficial because, while you ARE flushing out the bad bacteria, you are also getting rid the beneficial bacteria you so desperately need.

As for methods people are looking into, I know some are trying fecal transplants. It might sound gross to the ordinary person, but I can see how it might work. And then there is the controversial stem cell treatment..I'm mixed on this one.

Hi Ben good post : How about stopping the process before it starts with special new cell drinks that stop the process before it starts ,or corrects damage already done. Sort of a continous healing ..before damage can be done to the intestines.

A injectionable vitamin of all the vitamins and minerals we need. lol gail

Researchers have already been looking into stem cell therapy, stem cells taken from your own bone marrow and reinjected into your system (not necessarily right into your intestines though as that wouldn't be necessary from my understanding of the research I've read about this procedure).

And the deep tissues suggestion wouldn't be of any benefit unless they were able to cure the disease first, otherwise the disease continues to do it's deep and surfacable damage.  So the same would hold true for the vitamin C thing as well.

Along the same lines as "intestinal derma brasion"...

there's a lot of people using worm therapy. My understanding is that the parasitic worms are engineered to live a certain duration and expire without reproducing, so it is not a perpetual infestation. Supposedly the little buggers go around in your guts and eat all the scar tissue and diseased tissue, and in so doing, sort of eliminate the source of the trouble.

I've heard of the fecal transplants too. You should have seen my hubby's face when I mentioned THAT one. Goodness.

...I am glad some these procedures are taken place, now whether they become main stream in 5 to 10 years is to be speculated. I'll keep the creative thoughts coming it helps with the sometimes hopelessness I feel...

Hi Patientspiders I have heard that the little buggers live 2 months and that they have there own immune system hmmm ,got a good laugh out of your post. Would have loved to have seen your husbands face when it came to the fecal transplant. I bet we have scared a few people in our strive for a cure.. lol gail
