Upper GI Question

Is it absolutely necessary to have a colonoscopy to diagnose Crohn's or can it be seen in an upper GI with small bowel series?? How is Crohn's diagnosed?? I have an upper GI scheduled tmr morning and would really love to finally have some answers!!

Hi Good luck with your testing tomorrow. I guess I would say that both kind of test can help diagnose problems.I had lots of test I was diagnosed with the cloonscope .but I also had barium eneama, CT's and SBFT so I feel like I have been peeked at from one end to the other. Hope those answers get your way soon. Let us know how things go ..lol gail

I really think the better test to diagnose Crohns is the colonoscopy. The upper GI test only looks at the stomach and very beginning of the small intestine like the deodenum and jejuem (sp?). You might want to ask for the c-scope or a Ct scan, they might show Crohns more or even a SBFT. Good luck!
