well the dr was not very enlightining. rather he was a bit put-offish... treated me with a lack of understanding and appreciation for my situation.. the resident was more interested than he, the attending. he said that he would not fix it just leave it alone until or if it started hurting, then to come in cause it would be an emergency. so why dont we fix it BEFORE it becomes one? i asked. well its not really in a bad place he says.. well 'scuuuz' me it is for me. then he proceded to explain if they did they would just ' jump in and do it laproscopicaly. i said that might be a bit hard seeing as my anatomy is all screwed up in there. and full of scar tissue and adhesions.. " oh well it will just be a little harder" . this guy was just not getting my concerns. i dont want to wait itll it gets bad. i cant afford to lose any more intestine. if it gets caught in there and starts dying, then its too late they will have to take more out. plus i think i know my body JUST a bit better than he. i KNOW its not a simple hernia. i just know its coming from down farther. you could see it on the ultra sound when it was moving and flowing into the cavity.. all he gets to look at is the still pictures from the machine. which does not equal actually seeing it flow. so i am gonna call the nurse coordinator and get in to see another surgeon, hopefully the lady that fixed my fistula 4 years ago. at least i trust her and she knows whats in there.. so thats my update.. wish me luck

What is with that doctor?! He sounds full of himself. Maybe he needs a strong laxative. I hope you are able to see the nice lady doctor!

A doctor that doesn't address your concerns isn't very useful. He sounds condescending to me. I hope you can find a surgeon who will work with you.
Take care,

It seems to me that sometimes the Dr's get that way also when they are stumped-not sure what else to do or are afraid of the situation. Go to someone else if you can..
Good luck!

So GLAD you are going to get another opinion. That guy was a real prima donna, in my opinion. You know the kind, I am a doctor, just about
to be God!! I sure hope this gets taken care of in the manner it deserves. Sorry you had to deal with that idiot.
Good luck,

I'll never understand why some doctor's don't practice a little preventative medicine. Why wait until it's an emergency?

Spookhurst, The more they wait the more $$$money$$$ they make when you really really need them. Do you know how much custom golf clubs cost ????

What a jerk! Lucky it was you Randy and not some vulnerable, naive person taking this doctors words as gospel. Good luck with the next doctor :)

That is so scary. I would think that with your history, just having a hernia would be an emergency. I'm glad you are getting another opinion. You wouldn't want this guy operating on you anyway.
