Like most medicines or natural cures it helps some and really hurts others. I've heard a lot of people swear by its benefits and many others say it just exacerbated their symptoms.
And if you are at all interested in healing through diet like the SCD its page gives this information: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowledge_base/kb/aloe_vera.htm
But I think in the end it is just relative to the person so...you'll probably just have to try it like everything else and see.

I used to drink aloe juice and thought it helped. However I quit drinking it when I started the SCD because it's not allowed.

I used to drink it, its kinda nasty tasting but you can buy kinds that are flavored. I didnt take it very long it seemed like it was giving me more D, but Im not 100% sure that it was the cause.

Aloe vera can have a laxative effect if I recall, so it could have been responsible for your D.

^Many many things are considered diarrhetic. I personally have found aloe vera to be soothing. I take it in one of the stomach formulas. The taste is nasty so sometimes I mix it with orange juice.
It definitely has beneficial topical effects for burns, abrasion, etc. When its doing its thing on the inside its much harder to tell. Perhaps it does soothe ulcers? I think it does help me. However, on occasion it has made me feel slightly queasy when taken on an empty stomach.
