How long on methotrexate...?

In helping to decide whether or not to have surgery, I was wondering how long has anybody been on metho? I was on 25mg. injections once a week for four months and now reduced to 15mg. I suppose it is not really considered a maintenance drug?

My GI referred me to colorectal surgeon who I am seeing on Wednesday.

I've been on it well over 6 years now, 25mg tablets once a week. It reduced a lot of my inflammation in 3 months but didn't quite get me better so they boosted it with an infliximab which got me 100% better and the methotrexate maintained that, they tried dropping me down to 15mg and I got sick within a couple of months so they put it back up to 25mg and have left it like that ever since. But from the way my gastro and rheumo talk they have had people on it for over 10 years so in my nhs trust its definitley considered a maintenence drug, I guess it depends on how well they think its working for you.

I've been on 25mg. for the past 4 years and my dr. has no plan to take me off it.

I was on it for about 4mo before i started to loose my hair. They now have taken me off it.

I have been on 25 mg injection for 2 1/2 years and I just went down to 20 mg last week.

Is hair loss a big concern? Maybe it's different for me since I'm a male, but I'd trade my hair in a second for remission. I told my doc about some hair falling out and he didn't seem concerned. I take 1.5mg of folic acid a day except for the day of the injection. I think it mtx works better when I take less folic acid.
