White Stools Anyone?....

I had a couple BMs with white stools, well, cream colored stools. Not grey. Not white, white, but really light tan, like the color on the bar above where the google search box is located..... anyone else have this problem before? I am so used to blood & yellow mucous, and all kinds of weird things, but this is new to me....

I have a medical background and I know that this can be an indicator of blocked bile ducts in your liver. You need to go to the doctor immediately. They will do an ultrasound to see if this is the case. I can not stress to you how important it is for you to get to the hospital immediately.

I had white stools (I called them 'ghosts') for a short while. It was because I became medication induced jaundiced. My Dr got me in right away for an MRI to check my bile ducts to be certain that wasn't the problem. Turns out it wasn't (good) so we proceeded with stopping all meds. It took quite a while for me to return to normal, have no nausea and skin that itched like crazy. I also turned yellow. Yellow, Yellow YELLOW! I was very weak and tired, I almost collapsed in the shower washing my hair.

It was 6MP (mercaptopurine).
I was doing well on my dose and my GI decided to double the dose. I was still doing well, doing VERY well symptom-wise, but I began to feel slightly nauseated. I didn't think much of it, because I figured it was just a side effect. As I weaned down off of a high dose of prednisone, I began to feel more and more nauseaous. Eventually, the nausea would crop up at very odd times. Sometimes the smell of food would trigger it, but many times I would be sitting on the couch and watching TV, then with no warning, I'd have to vomit. I began to keep a bowl near me.

My husband had made comments about how pale I was, and then all-of-a-sudden he made a comment about how 'tan' I looked. I thought that was odd, because I had been spending almost NO time outdoors with the horse at all. I just kept feeling worse and worse. Very "ookie".

I called my GI and she gave me an anti-nausea prescrip. I began to have trouble keeping those tablets down so she gave me another one that just melted under your tongue. That still didn't work. She then had me go in for a bloodtest. She called me that afternoon and told me to stop all meds, I had jaundice and had to come in right away for an MRI to be sure my bile ducts weren't blocked. They weren't, so it was a med-induced jaundice. I don't remember what my liver values were, but they were high and it took forever for them to go down. I wrote about it somewhere, but I can't recall where.

The waste in the bloodstream (turning me yellow) was also sort of 'poisoning' me and it made my body react by becoming very itchy. I scratched so hard I put bruises along my 'scratch paths' on my chest, belly, upper arms, lower back, buttocks and thighs. NOTHING alleviated the itch. Oatmeal baths before bed allowed me to fall asleep, but it was maddening.

Not something I want to go through again.
Surprisingly, that fall, one of my CATS developed hepatic lipidosis, which is basically a cat jaundice. I was able to nurse her through the illness, though I very nearly did lose her. But I think my understanding of how she was feeling, helped considerably with my treating her and her convalescence.

Huh. I did have the flu last week... so did most of my family. But they haven't had this. This morning, it was still pale, although quite as white as yesterday.

I am not on anything for crohn's really. I am on prilosec, karafate, (those for stomach ulcer) 1 elavil at night (to help slow my GI tract & help me sleep), maxalt for migraines, birth control to regulate my haywire periods, and hydrocodone for pain. Could any of these cause med-induced problems?

Doctor said there must be something up with my bile production.... no tests planned or anything. Just call if something happens. He didn't seem super concerned....

On another note, I called the GI's office & finally heard my prometheus test results, negative for IBD. My GI was relying on this test as to if I have crohn's or not. I guess now she thinks not. Not sure what is causing the ulcers & blood in stool & all that. I guess not IBD. Not sure where to go from here....

I have white stool B4 too but it probably the liquid that doctor gave to to drink when i went through ultra sound. I had it for three days

my LDH was a little up 274 it should be 105-205 my GI was not concerned at the moment but told me to call if i was not feeling well or had other symptoms.
