Humira left out in kitchen for 9 hours (after collecting from Chemist), is it useable?

Hi all,

 Am on Humira and collected them yesterday.

I forgot all about them when I got home and only remembered before going to bed, as I needed to get some medicine from the bag.

They were out on the counter in the kitchen for about 9 hours.

I'm due to use one on Monday

Are they still useable, or will they be seriously bad for me?

Really need to know

I'm in Ireland, won't be able to phone them at that number.

I might have a number for an Ireland office somewhere, but they won't ben back in the office until monday

The chemist don't seem to have any info beyond the sheet enclosed with the humira

My common sense tells me 'no' since humira is supposed to be refrigerated normally anyway, and nine hours seems like a sufficient amount of time for most things that need refrigerating to spoil. I wouldn't eat lunch meat I left out for nine hours any more than I would use a biologic medicine.

Of course you can call your pharmacist for good measure, but I'm still going with no on this one.

I tried calling 1.800.4.HUMIRA and they are currently closed. They are only open from 8 AM to 8 PM ET [Eastern Time] Monday through Friday.
Can you contact your chemist first thing Monday?

Wouldn't hospital staff know? Emergency Rooms are always open, aren't they?

I got in touch with the Doctor, 1st thing this morning (monday). He called back and told me to get in touch with the Chemist as he was unable to get further information.

The chemist was very helpful and got in touch with someone about the Humira (Abbotts ? or someone else?, could have been the humira rep?)

Anyway, I was basically told I could use the Humira.

Whoever the chemist talked to had more information, this of course needs to be considered on a case by case basis.

During the conversation I was told that freezing would ruin the Humira, otherwise it seems to be able to live in low temperatures, outside the fridge, for a short period of time.

NOTE:

Make sure if you do read this that you check with your chemist or Humira rep before you use Humira that is kept in conditions other than those recommended on the medication leaflet.

Humira won't do you much good if the live Vaccine is no longer viable.
