I am a kindergarten teacher also for the past 30 years, ( I took 15 years off and worked for the in-laws while I raised my kids). This past summer was not good to me, I was in the hospital 2 times for a week at a time, and then I lost my dad just before school started. I began the school year fatigued and not well and then with budget cutbacks we were going to loose a teacher, I chose to take a medical leave of absence for the year, then no one had to leave our school.
It was the best choice I could have made, I am feeling better, but still have good days and bad days with some new Crohn's things going on! But the best part was that my students now have a teacher that is well and can be 100% for them, which is what they need!!!
I may or may not go back next year to teaching.
