penicilin/antibiotics and crohns

I have been on several antibiotics since my diagnosis. My guts have been in remission for over two years [thank you Remicade]. I have taken Keflex, ampicillin, and Azithromycin twice. The only one that gave me loose stools was the ampicillin. Once I started eating yogurt twice a day 2 hours after the dose of Ampicillin the problem lessened a great deal.

Of course everyone reacts differently to medications - what may not bother you might send be running to the bathroon and vice versa. I sure hope your guts remain quiet when you take your antibiotics.

I'm only allowed to take bacterial antibiotics (cipro, flagyl) per my surgeon. Anytime I take ammoxcillin, etc for an infection? I inevitedably flare BADLY.

I'd steer clear if you can. My surgeon is a firm believer that if you just wait out the 10 days an antibiotic would last, you'll be over the illness in the same amount of time. And, thus far, his theory has held true.
