financal assistance with meds

My daughter's insurance company didn't cover her Lialda so she applied to Shire for help.  The sales rep gave her dr. a 6 month supply of meds for her.  We are so grateful.  I understand many of these drug companies offer assistance plans.  We had to fill out a financial statement to show that she really couldn't afford the meds on her own but it was easy and fast.

When I was really sick about 6 years ago, I was working but receiving no drug coverage. I didn't make very much as it was my first job out of school. I mentioned that to my Dr. more as an aside, I wasn't asking for anything, but he gave me free samples of drugs to get me by until I was better. His logic was that I would likely be on meds my whole life, the pharmaceutical companies would get enough money out of me over my lifetime... I was very grateful, it helped so much! If you can't afford meds it is worth mentioning to the Dr., if they are compassionate and have free samples, they might help.

That is great! Our doctor gave us a discount card so that it would not cost more than $25.00 but the pills were too large for my daughter to take...big bummer since we didn't have a discount card for Asacol
