need help for a friend- please

I have a friend who has had a recurring problem with what she calls her "stomach". For years she has had what she considers episodes in which she has intense, uncontrollable pain in her abdominal area. She has been treated dozens of times at the local ER; no one has been able to determine what the problem is. She had surgery for "it" 4 years ago; even the doc at that time could not give her any info except to say there were "adhesions". It took a break and she had no problems with it for a couple of years. Suddenly a little over year ago it hit her hard and she has been having many episodes. There is neither rhyme nor reason to them, she can not find any common denominator regarding cause. This severe painful random thing is slowly killing her. What are your thoughts? Is this crohn's? She does deal with intermittent diarreah and constipation. Thank you!

What type of doctors has she been seeing? I agree with Mtgman that she needs to see a gastroenterologist. It could be a number of things including Crohn's. Is she on any medications?

Make sure your friend gets ALL of her medical records, from her doctors notes to the surgical report. It will explain much more than doctors ever say.... They seem to never come right out & say what we all wonder, but the notes & reports will. ; )

Also, has she been to a GI? Has she had a colonoscopy, small bowel follow through, x-rays, ct scans, etc? These tests are where to start when looking for a crohn's diagnosis....
