Hep B vaccine???

So I'm on Imuran, Remicade, and Entocort. I'm obviously immunocompromised. I need the hep B vaccine to start my nursing classes. Since Hep B is a live vaccine, can I get it? I know we are supposed to stear clear of those, but I have no choice. No vaccine=no classes. I've worked so hard to get into the nursing program through this illness that it seems ridiculous that a vaccine will prevent me from doing this.

Any suggestions? Anyone get the vaccine?

I just started on Humira last week and just had my second Hep B vaccination several days later. They said it wasn't considered a live vaccine so it was ok. Just check with your dr to be sure it is ok for you though since you are on different meds than me.

I had the Hep B shots when I was in college. I can't remember what meds I was on though. It was either 6MP or prednisone. Just give a call to your doctor, and I'm sure they'll know if it's okay. My guess would be that it's fine.

My daughter had the Hep B shot in December. She didn't have any problems.

I was told this was not a live vaccine. Maybe there are different forms like the flu vaccine (shot is dead, nasal is live).

I had my hep B vaccines for the same reasons. I was fine.

I stand corrected. Hep B is a dead virus vaccine, so I'm ok to get it. Thanks to all of you who replied!
