IBD 7 Results ASCA IgG high

Hi Everyone

Last week my doctor calls me and says everything is ok with the chrons test i took.

This week after seeing the detailed paperwork, doctor says that i might have something even thought the ibd7 test says negative

He didnt specifically tell me anything except that my ASCA IgG: 43 (reference is <40.0)

Everything else falls to within norms.

Does anyone know what this is or means?

Any help would be appreciated before i go for my appt next week.

I think ASCA is an antibody in the blood that attacks a particular bacteria that is sometimes very prevelant in Crohn's patients. But I'm not sure if high levels indicate Crohn's or the opposite.

Im really not sure what it is.

Ive had a colonoscopy and a sigmoidoscopy both negative for chrons.

Its just that ASCA IgG thats a bit high. The IgA is normal.

ASCA are the protein that rise high in patients with crohns disease. Yours are little over, but still need to confirm
with biopsies. A test call IBD Serology 7 are 90% accurate.

I took that test and he told me the results are negative but that particular protein is over the reference point.

I have the exact same problem..asca igg was high.. iga was normal...past all other tests for chrons. I just went to the doctor for a physical and now I  have done 5 different tests including colonoscopy..pill cam..Doctor says I am fine.. Only symptoms I have is slight constipation sometimes. Also have a sudden increase in acne which is strange for 28yrs old. Please I would love to hear a update on this subject from anyone. I know all the info online says 95 percent conclusive for crohns so I have been super stressed.

I had strongly positive ASCA antibodies about 5 years ago when I had a rare form of colitis they "said" was diverticular colitis. I had to have surgery and was symptoms free for about 4 years but now, I am having symptoms again. I don't even want to go in for all the darn testing again. I think I have crohn's in there somewhere. I have joint pain, fatigue, and occasional low grade fevers. My rheumatologist thinks they missed the crohn's somehow. I hear sometimes it can be hard to find unless it's pretty prominent in the biopsy.

If you have high levels of ASCA and your acne flares when you have issues, you should find a well-educated specialist to investigate the possibility of Behçet's disease. "Acne" is a common manifestation, and it can be accompanied by gastrointestinal problems. Higher than normal ASCA levels can indicate Behçet's as well, but it's ultimately a diagnosis of exclusion. Are you near any good teaching hospitals? If so, I would do some digging to see if anyone familiar with Behçet's can see you.
