I was wondering if any one here is on disability for their crohn's and if they have had a review? This is the first time I am filling out paper work without an attorney. Anyone ever have it taken away after having it for years?? I am alittle concerned because of the economy--if that could have an effect on outcome.

I am not sure where you are from but I know in Ontario the review is about
whether or not you are now medically able to work. They cannot make a decision based on the economy, it needs to be about
medical information. You may have a legal clinic in your area for low-income people. If so, I would encourage you to ask them if they can provide any support with your review. If they can't they may be able to at least answer questions. The people who are doing the review can only make their decision based on the information you give them, so I would be as detailed as possible in describing your symptoms and how they impact your ability to work/your daily life. Include any medical information or documents that you can.
Hope that helps!

Sassy is correct. I am on Social Security Disability for Crohn's and arthritis. I was turned down the first try as well and I think that must be standard procedure unless you are blind or have cancer or AIDS. I asked my GI and family Dr. if they could send my medical records to SS. I was approved 6 weeks later. I am now on Remicade and able to work though I havent started yet. I was concerned that I would lose my eligability now that Im mobile again but my GI said that as long as it's because of the meds they wont change my eligability status because if I lose my medical coverage then I'd be crippled again and he wont let that happen. Best of luck!
