lots of pain could it be indigestion ??

I tried to look it up but i didnt really get lots of help ... I am hoping I have indigestion and not something more serious. I happens most of the time when I lay down. I get very very bad pain in my chest. Night before last it hurt so bad I almost went to the ER the only thing that stopped me was I didnt want to go to the ER for indigestion lol. When I looked it up it said that the pain was in the epigastric area between the lower end of the chest bone and the navel. But my pain is higher like right were my heart is ?? could it still be indigestion ?? o and the night when it hurt so bad I finally vomited and the pain went away for the most part .. that makes me think it is indigesion even more but ... I really dont know if i've ever had indigestion before so i really dont know what it is ...

If it's near the heart, I think it would be heartburn. I've never had it though.

can heartburn just hurt cause it doesnt burn at all ... i've had heartburn before and it doesnt feel the same ??

It could be a partial blockage, but my pain was just below the rib cage. I'd see a doctor asap. Don't be scared, but pain near the heart is nothing to take lightly.

i have a GI dr appt next monday im gonna try to wait till then .... thanks for your thoughts

reflux etc. can feel like a heart attack...but i'd say any pain in that area is nothing to mess with...if it happens again i'd say go to the hospital...they're not going to laugh at you for being concerned about chest pain!!!!

yeah i guess not and even if they do i guess i'd rather get laughed at then die of a heart attack ...

It could be acid reflux. Prednisone will also add to this. I had pain like that also until I started taking losec 20 then Nexium later on. I could feel the pain straight through to my shoulder blades and it felt like a tightening around my chest above the rib cage. You could try taking Zantac it works well also. Don't lay down after eating for at least a 1/2 hour, and sometimes it helps to eat 4-6 small meals instead of 3 big meals.

thanks Julia i will try zantac ... and now that im goin lower on my pred. i can stop eating so late and so much and im sure that will help .... im just gald that you think its acid reflux thats not so scary

It can be heartburn or e-spasms, but as always with something that can mimic a heart attack please see doc asap.
I find pink magic or gi cocktails help alot with relieving the pain from heartburn so bad it causes e-spasms.

You have to go to the doc to get them, but they are for heartburn that is so bad it has triggered your esophagous to go into spasm (which is why it can feel like a heartattack).
