Infliximab

Hello, I'm 60 years of age and have been suffering from Crohn's since my early 20's. Within the past few years I have had a few dilatations, but on having the last, I was rushed back into hospital due to an internal bleed.

 

I have been told by my specialist that they can no longer carry out these dilatations and as a result, have suggest I go onto Infliximab, but I am very apprehensive about this, as there are so many side effects (I know there are many side effects with drugs and I'm currently taking drugs with side effects), does anyone take the above drug and have you had any problems?

Hi Ben

I went on imfliximab Oct 2008 after becoming steriod dependant. I have noiw had 4 infusions and am due my 5th in 3 weeks. I have just found that I get a few days of sinus pain which I counter act with sinutab. I drive straight after my infusion and feel fine.

It also makes you more prone to infections such as virus and flu, you will find them harder to get rid of. But in 5 montsh I have only had 2 virus infections so its not that bad.

Hi... I started Inflixmab on October after 7 months on steroids and my imflammatory markers sky high still. I am due my 5th infusion next month.... All i can say is it was like a miracle im now only on 2 mg of steriods and pentasa... The only side effect i get from the treatment is feeling very tired that evening.. My mum said after the 2nd infusion i was like a different person.... Im sooo greatful its around ...
