Financial help in Oregon?

Anyone from Oregon or know of any financial help there? A friend of ours has no insurance and her crohn's is getting bad. she thinks she needs surgery. I told her about Centocor for the Remicade but i'm not sure where she should go for hospital bills. She can't even work because it's so bad.

Has she tried:

"The Oregon Medical Insurance Pool (OMIP) is the high-risk health insurance pool for the state. OMIP was established by the Oregon Legislature to cover adults and children who are unable to obtain medical insurance because of health conditions." http://www.omip.state.or.us/ I don't know the eligibility requirements.

I was able to get insurance through the OMIP; a person has to be turned down by at least 2 regular health insurers for coverage due to pre-existing conditions in order to qualify. Getting information from OMIP is the first step.

I don't know, cause I am in Ireland. But I really hope that your friend can get some help and really soon. I will pray for her.

Search around for county for private hospitals which have charity care. Even though she does not have insurance there is help. All she has to do is fill out an application and the hospital will take care of the rest by discounting her bills. If she cannot pay the bills, charitable organizations will eventually cover the cost.
