 I was curious to know if anyone has or knows of any eye problems that relate to Crohns?

I have noticed a blurriness occuring earlier this week , but have to wait til next to get in with the eye dr.  I have Crohns and  either Primary biliary cirrohosis or  Primary cholangitis  ( both liver issues).

Currently on Imuran.

I havent had any eye preoblems, but I know my GI doc said Crohns can cause eye problems...he said if I ever develop blurriness or i start seeing floaters,  that I will need to see an eye doctor...

I just had my eyes checked and so far(knock on wood) everything is fine.

Crohn's has affected my eyes--I have had both Episcleritis and Scleritis.  In fact, that was the first indication I had this disease.

You are very smart to get your eyes checked.  I hope all is well!  Keep us posted!

I had problems with my eyes before I knew I had Crohns, my eye dr is the one who suggested I get checked for an inflammatory disease! At first one of my eyes started getting blurry and a litte sore at times when I rubbed it, started having the floaters, went to the eye dr, he gave me steroid drops and dialating drops to use to clear it up, as soon as I got one getting better the other one had problems. It took about two months to completely clear up, since I've had my crohns under control, I haven't had anymore problems with my eyes.

Yes, I have had eye problems. While in remission, a couple of years ago, I had a terrible sudden pain in my right eye and sensitivity to light. My aunt suggested I go to the eye doctor right away because serious eye problems can lead to blindness so quickly. Turns out, I had iritis - an inflammation of the iris in my eye. It is related to the Crohn's and can sometimes precipitate a flare. I went to see my GI doc who ran some tests but I have remained in remission. My disease is quirky, I often get things like this or say, joint pain, but not a flare. Scares me to death though. It is even more important to have regular eye exams with this disease and to let your eye dr. know about your Crohn's.

Thanks to Crohn's I have corneal ulcers from time to time. Not so often now that I am on steroid drops every day.

I had Iritis too. It can be quite painful and if not treated can lead to cataracts.
Get a good opthamologist and make friends with him.
