liver enzymes

is it common with crohn's disease to have slightly elevated liver enzymes?? has anyone else had this when they have had blood tests taken? it has shown up in mine about 3 times? i don't drink and i dont have hepatitis?

Mine frequently get elevated and will stay that way for a while and then go back down.  I've had ERCPs, MCRPs, liver biopsies, etc. done and they only showed that my bile ducts were inflamed.  We just keep testing periodically and they always go back down. They thought last time maybe it was the 6mp, but they were elevated before I even started it and the levels went back to normal while I was still on it.  Since stopping it, though, my enzymes have been normal. 

i'm taking salofalk granules. i know they can cause some liver problems but ur not meant to stay on them if they do, and my GI doesnt think it's do with the meds, cos if it were then he would take me off them. so yeh i dunno if it's something that happens with crohn's or what?

My liver enzymes started showing up elevated when I was on 6-MP so I went on and off of that for a while. They kept being elevated so I finally had a liver biopsy done which showed I have Alpha-1 Antitrypsin deficiency. It's an enzyme deficiency (I can't explain it, try google). So anyways, since the biopsy my lab tests have been "normal" and my doc says there's nothing to worry about. I didn't know there were others out there that had elevated liver enzymes. Some times I feel like I'm on an island, ya know? Just make sure you keep an eye on it though.
