Hi all,
I was naughty last night. Here I am in the middle of a flare, having experienced non-stop pain for over six weeks, and I decided to throw caution to the wind and consume something that normally wreaks havoc on my innards even if I'm not flaring. I enjoyed two glasses of a nice Shiraz. The odd thing is that I haven't had a negative physical reaction to it yet, but I don't plan on repeating it any time soon- the remaining wine will be used exclusively for cooking. The emotional benefit from enjoying something I really like has really helped the depression from the vicious cycle of a severe flareup.
So what's your indulgence? Do you have horrible reactions to spicy food, but sneak in Thai every now and then to satisfy a craving? Do you normally abstain from outdoors activities during a flare because of the lack of a toilet, yet once in a while go for a hike in the wilderness (with a roll of TP in your pack, of course)?
