Humira, Remicade, Cimzia and remission?

Not me. ;-( Was in remission on Remicade 2 years though and that's worth a lot (for me)!

Also a note...  I think it would depend upon how mild your case of Crohn's is.  The meds you listed are designed as maintenance meds.  The theory being that taking them is required to help.  That said, stopping Remicade for long periods of time can build an immunity to the med.  Your body can develop antibodies and then it can stop working (or have an adverse reaction).  For some people, once the body stops responding to one TNF, others are less effective.  Basically, I wouldn't mess with maintenance if something is working.

I get remicade episodically (which is basically stopping and starting - I only have it when symptoms return and the time inbetween is maintained with methotrexate) I had 2 years remission from my first infusion, 3 years from the second, 6 months from the third and fingers crossed the fourth will give me more.

Most doctors advise against episodic use now but back in the day when they were first dishing it out you only got it episodically when your symptoms returned because of the cost so luckily they still agree to treat me like that, being on a maintenace like methotrexate is supposed to decrease the chances of building an immunity to the remicade.

Hi, I too need to start on either Remicade or Humira.  Not sure which would be better to start on.  I am fearful that I will be starting on a path that may not have any recourse.  Tried all the other meds for UC, 6MP (allergic reaction), been on Lialda max dose, but my UC is not pancolitis, with more bleeding from recent colonscopy.  I really would like to find an GI MD who wants to get to the cause of this for me. 

Question:  Which drug is safer to take to control systems of UC Remicade or Humira?  Also, using these drugs I will persue other holistic approach to this GI problem.

I have been on Humira since March.  No luck.  My new gastro doc wants to start me back on Remicaide.  Ugggg
